Description
of Use

pix.GIF (45 bytes)

The Immunetics Cell Adhesion Flow Chamber is designed for performing dynamic cell adhesion assays in a laminar flow environment. The transparent acrylic device permits the study of interactions between cells immobilized on a microscope slide and cells in the fluid phase. Immobilized cells are grown on a detachable slide culture vessel. The Flow Chamber is mounted on an inverted microscope, cells in suspension are pumped through the chamber and cell-cell interactions are monitored in real time by video microscopy. The design solves several problems, including establishment of true laminar flow without turbulence, and leak-proof, reversible sealing of the culture slide to the chamber by vacuum. Applications for the Flow Chamber include studies of cell adhesion and cell-cell interactions in immunology and cell biology.

Cells in fluid phase are introduced via inlet and outlet ports. A series of five apertures in inlet and outlet manifolds facilitates rapid stabilization of laminar flow. External vacuum maintains a constant gap between the culture slide (crosshatched) and the flow deck. All liquid and vacuum fittings accept luer connectors. (See diagram below)
